Who are you and what do you do?
![]() Hello!!! I am Lizzie, and am the proud owner of Fizz Goes Pop, a play of my nickname, Fizzy. |
-
How/where/why did Fizz Goes Pop begin?
![]() I had started ventures in the past making jewellery but always felt like I wasn’t good enough to do it, so ended up losing confidence and not carrying on. FGP eventually began after YEARS of this waiting for the perfect time to do it, and for when I felt i had the confidence- but there is no perfect time, the time is NOW! I literally woke up one morning and decided, now it is going to happen, and I have not looked back. |
-
What inspires your designs?
![]() SO MUCH! It is hard to express it all- but nature and people and different personalities seep into all my work. I look to folkloric and traditional Mexican design, and my idol is and always will be Frida Khalo- what a woman. |
-
Who inspires you?
![]() Personally a new, but truly lovely friend is Louisa from Baked By Lou- we met almost as soon as I had begun FGP, and she has been my inspiration ever since, she has a great business mind, and we share where to go for stock, photography ideas, social media tactics, all sorts. More broadly ALL my friends, and family inspire me too- they all have individual strengths, and from them all I get a lot of help. My mother had her own creative business when she was young, and it makes me realise anything is possible with the right support and confident approach. |
-
What tools do you use to create your designs?
![]() I use fake flowers, hot glue, wire, paint, wood, pens and pencils, plyers, Photoshop, illustrator…and anything else I might need which is to hand at that moment. For product photography I use my camera, wire and unbelievably a large decorative wooden stag which is a Christmas decoration- because it is good for hanging the work off! If you could see my set up you’d soon see what you see online, in most cases is completely different from behind the scenes. It’s actually encouraging to see that real people exist behind the public face. |
-
What is your favourite item to make?
![]() At the moment my favourite item is my new earring design- I branched out to hand painted wooden earrings in the past month, and they are going down really well- it’s so encouraging hearing all the positive feedback. I have a local company laser cut my designs and I then hand paint and construct them at home, it is therapeutic if not hard, I find it very rewarding. |
-
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
![]() I recently read on an Instagram post from @homsweethom to remember that there is so much you can do with the little we have, so instead of spending hundreds on the “perfect set up” or “perfect equipment” focus on the resources you do have and not on the ones you don’t have- this made me feel quite proud of my Christmas stag then! |
